Sex in a Tent: A Wild Couple’s Guide to Getting Naughty in Nature (Wilderness Press 2007) A fun yet practical guide to camping with a romantic partner. It's part camping guide, part couples therapy, and a dash of Kama Sutra. Over 13,500 copies sold. Moon Living Abroad in New Zealand (Avalon Travel Publishing 2008, 2nd edition 2011, 3rd edition 2015) Moving to a new country can be overwhelming. This guide breaks down everything you need to know for a successful move to New Zealand, and helps you to quickly integrate into the local culture. From taxes to driving rules, medical care to housing options, you'll know exactly what to expect when you arrive. Psychic Animals: Superstition, Science, and Extraordinary Tales (Arcturus 2017) Find out how animals do things that seem incredible and even impossible to us. How do salmon find the river where they were born and return to it? How can dogs sniff out cancer? Does your cat know when you're about to get a migraine? When did the US military develop pigeon-guided missiles? Providing Sound Foundations for Cryptography: On the work of Shafi Goldwasser and Silvio Micali (ACM 2019) Michelle Waitzman wrote two chapters for this volume, providing compelling biographies of cryptographers Shafi Goldwasser and Silvio Micali, winners of the AM Turing Award for Computer Science. Linking the World's Information: Tim Berners-Lee's Invention of the World Wide Web (ACM 2023) Michelle Waitzman wrote a chapter-length biography of Sir Tim Berners-Lee, who invented the World Wide Web and directs the non-profit consortium that manages it, W3C. He won the 2016 AM Turing Award for Computer Science. Foundations of Computation and Machine Learning: The Work of Leslie Valiant (ACM 2026) Michelle Waitzman wrote a chapter-length biography of Les Valiant, known in computing circles as the godfather of machine learning. Valiant is also known for substantial work in computational complexity and parallel computing. He won the 2010 AM Turing Award for Computer Science. Logic, Automata and Computational Complexity: The Works of Stephen A. Cook (ACM 2023) Michelle Waitzman wrote a chapter-length biography of Steve Cook, who had a long career at the University of Toronto working in the area of complexity theory. His fundamental work influenced a whole field of research, and defined a problem that now has a million-dollar prize attached to it. He won the 1982 AM Turing Award for Computer Science. |
